After her family was evacuated from Iran to the United States following the Iranian Revolution, Sue grew up in South Florida (Hollywood) and moved to Gainesville, FL, to attend the University of Florida (Go Gators!!). She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, then moved to Pensacola, FL, to continue her education. Sue earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Florida (Go Argos!!)
In graduate school, Sue met the love of her life, Kit Following graduation, the two got married, were both offered jobs in the area, and officially made Pensacola their home. They fell in love with the deeply rooted sense of community within the small town and have made lasting friendships
Sue’s work experience is vast: including counseling children, adolescents, and adults in a psychiatric hospital; counseling children in a school setting; teaching parenting classes; and teaching online courses. She has worked in the field of school-based prevention for over 25-years, working with youth and their families facing multiple risk factors, and providing training to other mental health professionals. She currently is the Director of School Programs for CDAC Behavioral Healthcare, Inc.
An active and selfless volunteer in her community since 2002, she always makes time for others and is a true inspiration! She has volunteered for the American Cancer Society (event planning/ past online chair for the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk), Pink Ribbon Pensacola (Pink Ribbon Tennis Tournament/event planning, silent auction, past Co-Chair), Health and Hope Clinic, Inc (Christmas at the Clinic Gala), and Bread and Table Club (Croquet and Rose’on the Bay and membership events). As a Charter Member of the Krewe du YaYas, she held board positions and volunteered for numerous community events raising funds to help local uninsured/under-insured individuals receive mammograms and other diagnostic tests. She is also a past member of the Krewe of Hip Huggers.
Sue is a Charter Director of the Keeping Abreast Foundation, served as the President of the KAB Foundation, and is currently serving as an Advisor to the Board. She also served on the Board of Directors for Bread and Table Club for several years, and is currently serving on the University of West Florida Counseling Advisory Board. Additionally, Sue is a proud member of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area
Hobbies for Sue include playing tennis, traveling, playing with her fur babies (Gizmo and Sophie), and spending time with friends and family
