Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Alison Williams Houghton was an avid country dancer in the mid 1990s and beyond. A multi-skilled professional, she worked at a bank during the day and sold jewelry in the evenings at Service Merchandise Company—does anyone remember this store??? 
At SMC is where she met her most prized jewel and future husband, Kevin Lee Houghton
Kevin & Alison started as just friends—she pinky promises she did not steal him away from anyone 
Kevin was active duty with the United States Navy living in Pensacola, while Alison was still located in Tallahassee. Long distance was their start and continued for six months. Then, they realized that neither one them could stand to be away from one other any more than a few days! So Alison left her mom, dad, sister, and friends, not to mention her job of nine years, and moved to Pensacola to be with the person she knew her life belonged with! 
Exactly ONE year to the day they met, the pair got married in 1998. Three years later, Kevin was assigned to the U.S.S KITTY HAWK in Yokosuka, Japan, and that’s where they lived for the next three years. They lived out in town, off base, and tried to live as authentically as possible, visiting Tokyo often, snowboarding in Nagano (the 1998 Winter Olympics were held here!!), and they even climbed Mt. Fuji—reaching the very top after 9 hours!! 
In Japan, Alison worked for Navy Federal while Kevin went out to sea for an undetermined amount of time immediately after 9/11 happened. They truly loved their time and the memories made together in Japan, but they were soon stationed to Jacksonville, Florida. Here, Alison went to school to become a stenographer in court reporting.
After Kevin retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, they moved back to Pensacola where Alison worked as a court reporter for two and a half years. Remembering her love for Navy Federal, and all the corresponding perks, it was an easy decision to return to the largest credit union in the world. She has now been with them for 13 years and loving every second!
Alison can also be seen styling couples, singles, and event goers alike, as Kevin photographs and can be found behind the lens of the camera. Kevin owns his own business, RSVP, LLC, (photography and videography), and is the lead photographer for VIP Pensacola Magazine 
Married for over 24 years, the adventure bug bit the Houghtons while they living in Japan and has continued to nibble! Notably was a week they spent in the Bahamas with other couples. The gentlemen, including Kevin, drove their jetskis across the Atlantic while the wives, including Alison flew! A magical time was had by all: island hopping on jet skis, swimming with sea turtles, sharks, and sting rays. It was so amazing that they scheduled the same vacation the very next year!
Travel is a deep love and passion for Alison. She also loves spending time with family and friends, and crafting—selling “My Momma’s Scrubbies” on her Etsy site.
Alison and Kevin share their 1-acre oasis and forever pool home with their sweet furbaby, a miniature brindle dachshund, Daizee. They are most definitely living their happily ever after!!
